Image As a Kyokushin karateka, this is the ultimate test of your ability. However, we also understand that it is not for everyone, and so it is not compulsory.

Bear in mind though that the sparring in class will still be hard at times and so will the partner work, not to mention gradings, and in particular, your black belt grading. As your grade increases, the fighting component will become larger and also harder. This is fundamental to Kyokushin karate.

Even if you don't do full-contact, you will nevertheless be expected to participate in non-contact and kata tournaments.
