December 2007
There will be no training on Friday the 7th of December, because Newtown
PS will be having their Year 6 Formal that night.
November 2007
Sensei Shah and Alexander went to New Zealand last month, for the IFK
New Zealand camp. It was hard but enjoyable. Walking was not an option
in the evenings, because of the hard leg work.
Sensei Shah took Thanh, Franc, and Alex to the UMA championships in Quaker's Hill on the 4th. They won 4 trophies among the three of them, with Alex making 2nd place in 4 rounds in his first try at Koshiki.
Bo training day will be on the 30th of November this month.
April 2007
School holidays as usual will see the Peewees Class drop out for the
duration, but will be back on the first day of classes back at school
- Friday 27th - since Tuesday is a public holiday. We WILL, by the way,
be training on the 25th despite it being a public holiday.
March 2007
AMAC ROUND 1
Newtown did very well in the first AMAC tournament - with 9 or 10 trophies.
Congratulations to all, in particular, Miko Chun, who fought his
first full contact fight, won the first one and was well on the way
to winning
the second before an unfortunate, but spectacular knockout floored
him! Congratulations also to John Pegios, who scored firsts in both
points and freestyle sparring.
December 2006 SUMMER TRAINING
The last day of training at Newtown for the year will on Friday December 22nd. Training will start again Friday January 5th (because the 2nd is too close to New Year's day, and some people might not be quite with it yet!)
During the summer school holidays, there will be NO 4:30-5:30 classes, but students from that class are welcome to train at the 5:45-6:45 class. Normal scheduling will start again the first training day of the new term i.e. Tuesday, 30th of January!
NAS NATIONALS
Six competitors, and 3 trophies! Can we ask for more? Congratulations to Andrew, John, and Tristan, for your placings at these NAS Nationals, and well done too, Alexander, Alex, and Michael for having represented us at the Nationals too!
GRADINGS
Congratulations to all those who graded this month. The results are on the grading pages. We have one new 4th kyu (green belt), one new 7th kyu (senior blue) and a whole bunch of new red belts! October 20062nd - 14th : School holidays are on again. Children's classes are only on
from 5:45 - 6:45pm during this time, but regular classes start on the first
Tuesday
of
term 4
(17th October) 21st - 23rd: HOWEVER Sensei Shah and Shihan Doug will be
going to New Zealand on that weekend, to participate in the IFK's NZ camp,
so there will be NO
children's classes on Friday
21st October, but Sensei should be back for the next
Tuesday again. 29th: The weekend following that, are the NAS
State Finals! A
number of you have qualified to compete at the this tournament, and you will
be getting your application
forms soon. If you have won a trophy anytime at the NAS State tournaments this
year, you automatically qualify to compete both at the State Finals, as well
as the Nationals this year (in Melbourne). However, the only way to get your
application forms for the Nationals is to compete at the State Final.

December 2007
Bo training day will be on the 6th of December. Don't forget!
November 2007
Shihan Doug ran a demonstration at the Earlwood Street Fair. About 14
people turned up, and some of them did a few board breaks.
March 2007
AMAC ROUND 1
Marrickville score a number of trophies too, about the same as Newtown,
and Senpai Jorge outdid everyone by winning two first places in sparring,
AND a second place in full contact - for him this was a first too, as
he didn't get his black belt from Kyokushin! Well done also to Thanh Pham,
who in his usual indomitable way, competed in the full contact again,
and John Le who also scored first in both his sparring divisions.
December 2006 SUMMER TRAINING
The last day of training at Marrickville for the year will on Thursday December
21st. Training will start again Thursday January 4th (because Monday the 1st
is
New Year's day and most of us may not be quite up to it yet!) |

November 2007
Danny, the big guy from Dulwich Hill dojo, tried out for the new Gladiator
series and got through. We might be seeing him on telly soon!
April 2007
Not much news for April other than that the dojo has just started up this
month. Go along and train there, and introduce a friend of 10. |
